Comedy in itself is a genre that isn’t meant to be taken seriously. That is for the audiences of course. But from an entertainer’s perspective comedy can be one of the trickiest forms of art. Many people have tried and failed but there have been a few who have not only mastered the art but have elevated it to a higher level. Let’s talk about these harbingers of humor that have accomplished what was thought to be unachievable.

Robin Williams

There’re a few reasons why the Mrs. Doubtfire actor is regarded as one of the top comedians in the world. One of them being his exceptional improvisational skills. While most of the comedians focus on delivering on a prewritten punchline, Williams ad-libs his heart out. So much so that during the voice recording of Aladdin, he provided almost sixteen hours of improvised content. Williams' urge to be funny was described as being innate to him, just like breathing.

Joan Rivers

In a time when women were still struggling to be seen as equals, Joan took the center stage at ‘The Tonight show’ and owned the hearts of millions. Rivers was one of the first and most prominent female names in the comic industry and many still look up to her for her unapologetic persona and her unique style of performance.

Key & Peele

Think sketch comedy, think Key & Peele. Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are famous for their satirical sketches that always manage to tickle their audience’s funny bone. This iconic duo has broken existing barriers and has set new standards for sketch comedy. They manage to get a crucial message across while poking fun at the stereotypes faced by the African-American community.

Jerry Seinfeld

From one of the highest-profile stand-up comedians to the co-creator of the most successful sitcom in history, this guy has done it all. Seinfeld’s observational humor and his ability to create comedy out of relatively mundane concepts is what made him secure a spot on the list of greatest comedians of all time.

Kevin Hart

Ride along’ actor has broken multiple records. From ‘Lil Kev’ who was booed off stage at his first gig to selling out an entire football stadium for his ‘What now’ tour, Kevin Hart has come a long way. With more than a dozen awards under his belt and his IMDb page packed with commercially and critically acclaimed titles, Hart has shown us that with hard work and perseverance, it is possible for an ordinary high school graduate to achieve Rockstar status.

One common theme that can be seen through all these success stories is resilience and their ability to learn from their mistakes and turn them into victories
