Movies based on dance as the hero have been quite entertaining to watch and challenging to create at the same time. But the number of amazing dance movies that Bollywood alone can boast of says a lot about the dancing, acting, and directing talent that we possess.

Whether you love dance, movies, or both, these 4 Bollywood dance movies will make for a great and inspiring watch:

1. ABCD

This film series is as inspiring as its name: Any Body Can Dance. It consists of two films and is known to have engaged with the finest dancers of the country. It is directed and choreographed by Remo D’Souza, produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ronnie Screwvala, and written by Amit Aryan and Tushar Hiranandani.

One of the most loved songs and dance sequences from ABCD

A highly talented dancer is thrown out of his elite dance studio by the employer but has the grit to not give up on his passion for dancing. He goes on to set up his own troupe to represent India on a global stage.

Prabhu Deva aka Vishnu plays the leading role, and dance is his one true purpose. Consider it a stroke of luck that he finds some outstanding young men portraying their talent at Ganpati Chaturthi. He immediately sees a spark and it’s a topsy turvy road to the international stage. Who wins in the end? Watch and find out.

And here at FrontRow, we are honoured to have two of the dance superstars from the film series as our dance course mentors: Punit J. Pathak and Dharmesh!

2. Happy New Year

A team of so-called losers attempt to pull off mass revenge against a past traitor. They are required to win a dance competition as part of the plan, with the real motive being that of robbing the precious Shalimar diamond. They get entangled with a local dance performer with a lot of integrity. The ending itself is the superhero of this film.

3. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi

King Khan SRK plays Surinder, who is married to Taani, played by Bollywood superstar Anushka Sharma, but there are a lot of differences between the two. There is no real love in their marriage. Then, a dance reality show called "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" airs and Taani is all excited to perform but feels like she can't. She has a fear of losing and also fears that her friends will laugh at her. Surinder overhears her problem and decides to go in for a transformational makeover. He watches some movies and learns to dance in order to impress his wife but keeps his identity concealed from her throughout. Eventually, Taani falls in love with her "dance partner" and the story continues.

4. Dil Toh Pagal Hai

Dil Toh Pagal Hai is the story of Rahul (Shah Rukh Khan), who does not believe in love and Pooja (Madhuri Dixit), who is opposite of him and believes that there is someone who is made for her and that she is destined to meet that person. It is also the story of Nisha (Karisma Kapoor) who believes that love is friendship. The love triangle with a twist is a delight to watch.
